Great Canadian Kilt Skate -- Montreal

Verdun Auditorium
4110 Boulevard LaSalle

The event is FREE to all participants, but please register in advance using the form attached here.

It's time for the Great Canadian Kilt Skate! Put on some tartan and join us on the ice as we celebrate Scottish culture and heritage in true Canadian fashion.

Kilt skates will be taking place all across Canada and even beyond our borders, with communities vying for the coveted title of “Kilt Skate Capital of Canada." Montreal won this honour in 2017: let's show the world our Scottish spirit and win it again!

Great Canadian Kilt Skate -- Home Edition

  • Google Calendar ICS

Again for 2022, Montreal has joined other cities in launching a kilt skate for pandemic times—a stay-in-your-bubble, pan-Canadian event: the Great Canadian Kilt Skate: Home Edition! Everyone, everywhere can join: on your backyard rink, on the outdoor rink at the community centre, on the frozen pond down the road. To participate, simply put on your tartan or kilt, head out on the ice and share your photos and video clips!

Be sure to include the #KiltSkate2022MTL hashtag to your social media posts so that you're counted in the contest to see who wins the Kilt Skate Capital of Canada. If you don’t use social media, you can email photos to kiltskatemedia@ottscot.ca.

For news about other kilt skates in Canada, visit the kilt skate event pages of the Scottish Society of Ottawa. For kilt skating in general, see www.kiltskate.com.

For the photos from last year’s Montreal home edition, visit the website of the St. Andrew’s Society of Montreal.

“We are thrilled to announce that the details for the 6th Annual Great Canadian Kilt Skate have now been confirmed. The event will take place in new venue this year: the Patinoire Atrium 1000 which is located downtown near the Bonaventure metro station. This is an INDOOR skating rink, so we hope to avoid the weather-related postponements which have affected this event for the last two years. The first 25 skaters who arrive wearing tartan will be offered free admission!
When: Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: Patinoire Atrium 1000, 1000 de la Gauchetière Ouest
Cost: $8.50 (payable directly to the venue). Skate rental is available for $7.00.
Please RSVP on our website.
