Kilt skating comes to Scotland

Location: Braehead Arena. Kings Inch Road, Renfrew.

For more than a decade, Canadians have been celebrating Scottish culture by taking to the ice in kilts. They call it The Great Canadian Kilt Skate. For much longer than that, Scots have enjoyed playing Canada’s national game. We all call it hockey.

On February 8 the Glasgow Clan hockey club will unite these two traditions by inviting fans to wear their kilts and tartans to a public skate that will precede their game against the Fyfe Flyers. Puck drops at 7 PM. So strap on your skates and get your kilt out on the ice at 6 PM.

This will be a trans-Atlantic experience as several Canadian cities and one American kilt skate community will hold their annual kilt skates to coincide with the Glasgow Clan event.
