A Sunny and Cold Kiltskate in Calgary
/Under a weather warning and in the frigid cold of a daytime high of -22c with a wind chill up to -30c, some hearty Calgarians took to the ice in Kilts to celebrate the 11th Annual Great Canadian Kilt Skate.
It was a glorious sunny day shining on the True North Strong and Free.
Despite the one week postponement, the weather did not improve.
Unfortunately it was just too cold for the Dancers and Pipers.
But the society's choir known as the Caledonians took to the stage and belted out O Canada in Gaelic and English, along with a few popular folk songs including the perennial favorite Scot's Wae Hae!
In addition free hot chocolate was available for the brave prairie skaters who took to the ice for a twirl or two.
The new venue in the University District was enthusiastically embraced by all and will be the home for next year's 12th Annual Great Canadian Kilt Skate.
